Reactive vs. Proactive Video Monitoring

When it comes to property security, you have many more options now than you had just 10 years ago. With so many choices, what is the best way to secure your property? We won’t go into a detailed report here, but we will review reactive and proactive video monitoring. ArcEye Property Defense has helped prevent over 65,000 crimes worldwide, and we owe our success to developments in advanced technology. If you are interested in integrating proactive video monitoring into your property security system, then call ArcEye Property Defense to consult with a courteous representative today.

Reactive vs. Proactive Video Monitoring

What Is Reactive Video Monitoring?

When you think of a surveillance or security system, you probably think of the traditional reactive video monitoring. This system includes a variety of components such as cameras, lighting, sensors, and alarms.

When the sensors detect an intruder on your property, the alarms go off. Then, the system may send you a notification and alert monitoring center agents if you have signed up for the service. From there, either you or the agent will report the incident to the police. Finally, depending on the priority level of the call, the police will be dispatched to your property.

As you can imagine, the criminal will have entered and left your property by the time the police arrive. This is when the camera footage comes into play. You will likely skim through the recording, but what if the criminal is masked? Hopefully you will have luck with the property insurance claim.

What Is Proactive Video Monitoring?

Proactive video monitoring includes all of the components of a traditional security system and more. In addition to the sensors, alarms, videos, and lighting, there are virtual guards and two-way audio intercom. These combine to stop the criminal before they enter the property. Here’s how it works.

Our proprietary technology uses artificial intelligence to monitor and analyze video footage. It filters false alarms such as falling leaves, animals, and authorized individuals. If it detects a trespasser, then the virtual guard is notified immediately. Within seconds, the guard will engage with the criminal using two-way audio to get the trespasser off the property. The warnings will be accompanied by alarms and sirens.

Most of the time, this is enough to deter the criminal and make them flee. If not, the guard will dispatch police to your property as soon as possible while remaining engaged with the intruder. This is how ArcEye Property Defense has helped prevent over 65,000 crimes worldwide.
